Day 167: June 16, 2010

Avery has never been an easy one to drop off at daycare. He is very clingy to me and there have been many mornings where I just had to walk out of the room with him screaming. Any mother knows that can make for a long day.

Of course, I know that a couple minutes later he will be just fine and playing with his friends. And when I come to pick him up at night, he will not want to leave because he is having so much fun.

What has helped through all of this is the wonderful teachers at the daycare. Each time Avery moves up to a different room, there seems to be one teacher in that room that he has a connection with, a special bond. Most recently, this bond was with Miss Lexie.

Lexie was always there to cuddle with him in the mornings until he was ready to play. She was there to laugh with me about him refusing to remove his "monkey coat". And most importantly, she was there for him when he needed her.

Well, today was Lexie's last day at the daycare. She is moving on to the next chapter in her life with a new job, ironically at the same company that I work for. So although she will not be far, she will be missed at the daycare.

Day 167: June 16, 2010

We stopped by to pick up some flowers and a card for Lexie this morning and I had to be sure to get a picture of the two of them. Avery was able to give her a good laugh on her last day with how ridiculous he looked with his dress shoes/shorts combination all because he decided to run through a puddle the night before and his regular shoes were still soaking wet this morning.

We wish Lexie the best of luck at her new job but we will miss her smiling face in the morning.

Here are a few pictures that Lexie took throughout the day:
